The La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) invites early- to mid-career applicants to apply for a tenure-track faculty position to add to our research program in immunology. Applicants must have an outstanding record of scientific ability evidenced by a strong publication record and/or competitive funding. We highly value demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. High priority areas include cancer immunology/biology, system and computational biology, and genomics of human infectious and other diseases, the microbiome and innate immunity, metabolomics and obesity, and autoimmunity. However, outstanding applicants working in other areas within the broad discipline of immunology will be considered.
LJI is an independent not-for-profit research institute located on the UC San Diego (UCSD) campus in La Jolla, California. The institute offers a superb and broadly based research environment including topics and expertise ranging from molecular genetics and structural biology to cellular immunology, developmental biology, computational biology, studies in animal models and human clinical trials. Most of our 23 faculty members hold adjunct appointments at UCSD, and tight interactions and collaborations are in place with neighboring institutions such as the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), the Salk, Scripps, Sanford Burnham Prebys, and J. Craig Venter Institutes, as well as many local pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including Pfizer.
LJI was rated best place to work in a 2013 survey of postdocs by The Scientist magazine, and ranked in the top 5 institutes world wide for citation impact in immunology based on ISI.
