CANCER IMMUNOLOGY RESEARCH POSITION (DR. SONIA SHARMA)

Position Summary
A full-time research position, at the graduate student or postdoc level, is available immediately in the lab of Dr. Sonia Sharma to help drive NIH funded research projects focused on applying advanced screening technologies in cancer immunology. This position will be a driving force within the lab and interact often with collaborating labs; Drs. Lynn Hedrick, Pandurangan Vijayanand and Steven Schoenberger. Candidates must be highly motivated and thrive in a smaller but rapidly expanding lab. Key factors include, but are not limited to; ability to drive forward a project, interact collaboratively, play both leadership and support roles where necessary, and a thoughtful and organized approach to the work.

Qualifications
• Actively pursuing or have recently obtained a PhD in Cell Biology, Immunology or a related field.
• Strong interest in cancer immunology, functional genomics, and applying technology to problems of the immune system.
• Have an understanding and preference for a smaller lab environment.
• Preferred background in in vitro and in vivo models.

Sharma Lab
The Sharma laboratory at La Jolla Institute for Immunology is a functional genomics laboratory using genome scale RNAi and CRISPR methods to identify key gene and pathway targets important for triggering effective innate immunity to tumors. Dr. Sharma established the lab in 2015 and has expanded the funding base every year, with committed funds going through 2023. The lab has three major papers in the pipeline, and accordingly, is in the process of finding members to join the team and help take the lab on its next exciting growth phase.
