Part -Time Executive Assistant Intern

Job Summary:
The La Jolla Institute is seeking a motivated and organized individual to play a key role serving a part-time, Executive Assistant internship role, assisting the Director of Research Relations in a number of crucial projects. The Executive Assistant Intern will work closely with the Director, to ensure that tasks in relations to projects are organized and successfully executed. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with executives and learning high-level communication and project skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Executive Assistant Intern will serve as a resource to the Director of Research Relations, internally, and on occasion, to external partners. Primary responsibilities include acting as a liaison for the Director and other departments, making arrangements for meetings, presentations, and seminars, processing mail, screening phone calls, maintaining the appointment calendar, maintaining administrative files (inventory, correspondence).

Leveling Requirements:

Must be enrolled in a BA/BS program. An entrepreneurial sprit is required. Candidate needs to have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with institute personnel and outside contacts in a professional manner, while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Must have the ability to exercise flexibility, tact and good judgment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and the ability to quickly pick up and understand new software is needed.
