Postdoctoral Position- Human T cell responses in Allergy (VD-Peters)
Our independent, non-profit research institute is currently seeking highly motivated researchers for an immediate opening in the research group of Dr. Bjoern Peters.
Successful candidates will join an interdisciplinary group of researchers dedicated to the identification and characterization of T cell responses against a variety of complex antigens, such as allergens, viruses, and bacteria.
We are interested in understanding how human immune response drive pediatric food allergy. Our research utilizes bioinformatics-based epitope predictions to identify peptide targets of immune responses that are used to isolate allergen specific T cells from individuals previously exposed to the allergen, currently experiencing active disease, or who have outgrown the allergy.
Methods frequently used in this research include isolating and culturing different primary cells of the immune system as well as ELISpot, FACS, and intracellular cytokine staining. You will also have opportunities to work on cutting-edge techniques such as high-dimensional mass cytometry, single cell sequencing, and innovative bioinformatics analyses.
This position is a part of a NIH-funded U19 Allergy program at LJI, working alongside other labs including Dr. Alessandro Sette (cockroach and mouse allergy) and Dr. Vijayanand (mold allergy/asthma).
Ideal postdoctoral candidates will have strong backgrounds in immunology, with an emphasis on T cell immunity, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with allergic disease is a strong plus but not required.
