The La Jolla Institute is seeking a motivated and organized individual to play a key role in coordinating multiple National Institutes of Health research grants and a clinical trial. The project coordinator will work closely with the principal investigator (lead researcher), as well as the administrative team, to ensure that details of the projects are organized and successfully executed. This is an excellent opportunity to grow into a project management role, as well as a unique chance to work with some of the world’s most influential scientists in the field of asthma and cancer research.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The project coordinator will serve as a resource for various project activities, both internally and externally, with UC San Diego as a significant point of contact. Primary responsibilities include coordination of overall project activity, documenting progress via regular status reports, managing logistics including making arrangements for meetings, presentations, and seminars, establishing and managing budgets, preparing and submitting documents and manuscripts for scientific publications and conferences.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and be highly motivated to learn quickly in order to become an actively contributing member of the team.
• Bachelor’s degree
• At least one year of related experience
• Able to think critically and solve problems
• Excellent time management skills
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to work with a diverse set of communities – researchers, administrators, technical staff, and programmers, to solve problems and build consensus
• Financial Management a plus
