A full-time position for a mouse research technician is immediately available in the Division of Inflammation Biology at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology under the direction of Dr. Klaus Ley. The successful candidate will join a team of scientists investigating inflammation as a defense reaction caused by tissue damage or injury, specifically in atherosclerosis. The candidate is required to have experience with mice.
This position requires a 2-year commitment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate will support active research and day-to-day operations of the laboratory under the supervision of the Lab Manager. We seek a candidate who is diligent, meticulous, displays initiative, and desires to be able to contribute intellectually to the mouse colony. The candidate will be required to do the following for this position:
• Daily mouse colony management (approximately 600 cages)
• Genotyping (tail clipping)
• Electronic record keeping (mLIMS)
• Attend Lab Meetings
Room for growth:
• Wet bench work as desired
• Flow Cytometry
• Molecular Biology
• Animal Models
An Associates Degree in a related field. Meaningful experience with databases. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Two years of lab experience in an academic or industrial setting. One year of experience working with mice in an academic or industrial setting.
