Cancer Immunology – Research Technician (January 2019)
A full-time position for a research technician is immediately available in the Division of Vaccine Discovery at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology (San Diego). The successful candidate will join a team of scientists investigating novel immunotherapy targets identified by previous transcriptomic profiling of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes. The candidate will contribute to comprehensively characterizing the functional role of these candidate molecules in driving effective anti-tumor CD4 and CD8 responses.
The research involves in vivo mouse work, cell culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry/cell sorting and functional assays. Previous experience in performing in vivo experiments utilizing murine models is required. Knowledge in any of the other above-mentioned techniques is desirable, however, pertinent training will be provided. This position requires a 2 to 5 -year commitment.
The candidate will support active research and day-to-day operations of our research laboratory. We seek candidates who are diligent and meticulous, who display initiative and will be able to contribute intellectually to the project. The candidate will have to routinely process high number of samples; therefore, an exceptional level of organization is required for this position.
Minimum requirements for this position include: a bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in immunology, biology, biochemistry or related field, at least 1-2 years of lab experience in an academic or industrial setting and the ability to illustrate the conceptual significance of previous work/training experiences.
