CANCELLED: A vaccine to prevent heart disease?
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer worldwide, just ahead of cancer. The most common cause is atherosclerosis, which leads to the formation of cholesterol-containing plaques in vessel walls, causing arteries to narrow and greatly increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke. At its core, atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease and the immune system plays a critical role in the progression of the disease. La Jolla Institute Professor Dr. Klaus Ley, one of the world’s foremost experts on the immunobiology of vascular disease, will discuss his pioneering strategies to develop novel strategies to curb vascular inflammation.
Speaker: Dr. Klaus Ley
